A software engineering studio in Pittsburgh. Building since 2015.
We build, modernize and support production software: web applications, SaaS platforms, mobile apps, APIs and the cloud infrastructure they run on. We hold every project to one engineering standard, whatever the stack.
Where the name comes from
SnowDriven started in 2015 in Colorado, in the shadow of Mt Sneffels in the San Juan Mountains. The logo is its real skyline, Sneffels and Dallas Peak as seen from the Dallas Divide. In 2024 we moved to Pittsburgh and brought the name with us.

What we do
The core of our work is software engineering, and projects often start with a system that already exists: an aging .NET or PHP application, a mobile app that no longer builds, or infrastructure nobody fully understands. We modernize those as readily as we build new ones, and we set up the APIs, cloud infrastructure, hosting and deployment they run on.
We work in the stack you already run, or the one the problem needs. On the web that often means TypeScript, C# or PHP. Front ends are usually React, Vue or Angular. In the cloud it means AWS, Azure or Google Cloud, including serverless functions and managed back ends. Mobile apps are built fully native in Swift and Kotlin, or cross-platform with React Native, Expo and others, and neither is a fallback for the other. When a website or store is the right answer, we build it on WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify, Squarespace or Wix.
The stack changes with the job. The standard doesn’t: every project is held to the same performance budget, tested against WCAG 2.2 AA, built with security checks from the start and handed over with documentation another team could use.
How we work
We research before we build and write every significant decision down, so you can read it, challenge it and keep it. And we say so when something isn’t the right fit, including when that means not hiring us.
How we’re set up
The engineer you speak to first is the one who leads the work.
- Working
- Remotely, with client meetings by video or on site in the Pittsburgh area
- Led by
- A senior engineer, from the first call to the handover
- Specialists
- When a project needs other skills, such as design, mobile or infrastructure, we bring in independent specialists and agencies, chosen for each project, with one engineer accountable. The agreement we both sign sets out who works on your project. Who does the work
- After the call
- A written proposal: scope, timeline and price
- Handover
- Runbooks for releases and incidents, the decision records behind the architecture, and a codebase tour a new engineer can follow on day one
