Agreeing to these terms

These terms apply to your use of snowdriven.com (the “site”), operated by Snow Driven LLC (“SnowDriven”, “we”, “us”). By using the site you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site. If you use the site for a company, you confirm you can accept these terms for it.

Information only, not an offer

The site describes our services for general information. Nothing on it is an offer to provide services, a quote, or professional advice for your situation. Any engagement is governed only by a separate written agreement signed by both parties, and that agreement controls if it conflicts with anything on the site.

Timelines, process descriptions, examples, ranges and other estimates on the site are illustrations, not commitments. Sending us an inquiry doesn’t create a client relationship or oblige either of us to work together.

This includes our descriptions of how we work, who works on projects, what we hand over, our standards and quality checks, and our answers to common questions: they describe our usual practice. What we commit to for your project, including who does the work, confidentiality, ownership of code and accounts, testing and timelines, is set out only in the agreement we both sign.

Acceptable use

Please use the site lawfully and in a way that doesn’t harm it or other people. In particular, don’t:

• attack, probe or try to break into the site or the systems behind it, or interfere with its operation (for example with malware or denial-of-service traffic);
• scrape, crawl or copy the site in a way that degrades the service or ignores our robots.txt;
• submit the contact form automatically or in bulk, get around its spam protection, or use it to send spam, unlawful or abusive content;
• pretend to be someone else, or submit someone else’s personal information without permission.

We may block access from anyone who breaks these rules.

Our content and brand

The site and its content, including text, graphics, illustrations, design and code, belong to Snow Driven LLC or its licensors. The SnowDriven name and logo are our brand; other names are covered in Trademarks. We give you a limited, personal, revocable license to view and share links to the site and to print or save pages for your own reference. Using our data files, feed and calendar, and quoting or citing our research, is covered by Data, feeds and calendar; automated access is covered by Automated access. Any other use needs our written permission.

Guides, research and tools

Our deadline guides, research pages, readiness check, sample audit report and other resources are general information about software made by other companies and projects. They aren’t advice for your systems, and reading or using them doesn’t make you our client. Every system is different, so a step, command or recommendation that suits most systems may not suit yours.

Before you change a system, back it up, test the change on a copy that isn’t in production, keep a way to roll it back, and follow your own change process. You follow our guides at your own risk, and the disclaimers and limits of liability in these terms apply to them.

The sample audit report describes a fictional company and system. Nothing in it is client work or a finding about any real organization.

Accuracy of dates and data

Support dates, version details and figures on the site and in our data files, feed and calendar come from other organizations, such as Microsoft, the PHP project and WordPress.org. We copy each one from the source named beside it and show the day we last checked it. Those organizations can change their dates and figures at any time, and our copy can fall behind or contain mistakes.

Labels such as “upcoming”, “ending soon” and “ended”, and day counts, are worked out when a page or file is built or opened, so they can be out of date. Calendar events are reminders, not notices from the vendor, and a subscribed calendar changes only when your calendar app fetches the file again.

Always confirm a date with the vendor before you rely on it for a plan, a contract, a budget or a compliance deadline. We correct mistakes when we find them and log corrections on our research changelog, but we don’t promise that any date or figure is complete, current or free of errors.

Data, feeds and calendar

You may download our data files, subscribe to our calendar and feed, and use them for your own purposes, including in your own planning tools and internal reports. You may quote individual dates, figures and short passages from our research pages and data in articles, reports and posts, with credit to “SnowDriven” and a link to the page.

Figures that come from others, such as WordPress.org’s statistics, stay under their owners’ terms. You may not sell our files, republish them in bulk as a dataset of your own, or suggest that we endorse you or your use. Any other reuse needs our written permission: email hello@snowdriven.com.

Automated access

You may access the site with crawlers and other automated tools that follow our robots.txt, including for search indexing, AI answers and AI training, to the extent our robots.txt allows. That permission doesn’t extend to using our name or logo, to suggesting that we endorse anyone, or to access that breaks the acceptable-use rules above.

Trademarks

SnowDriven and the SnowDriven logo are our brand. Other product and company names on the site, including Microsoft, .NET, Windows Server, SQL Server, Azure, Visual Studio, PHP, WordPress, WooCommerce, Laravel, Symfony, Shopify, Squarespace, Wix, Apple, iOS, Android, Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Anthropic, Claude and Cloudflare, are trademarks or registered trademarks of their owners. We use them only to name the products we write about and work with. SnowDriven isn’t affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any of these companies or projects, and mentioning one isn’t a claim of partnership or certification.

Inquiries, feedback and ideas

We handle the information you send in an inquiry as our privacy policy describes. Please don’t send us confidential information or ideas you want to protect before we have a signed agreement, such as a non-disclosure agreement, in place. Feedback about the site or our services is welcome, and we may use it freely without any obligation to you.

Links to other sites

The site may link to websites we don’t control. We provide those links for convenience; we aren’t responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices, and a link isn’t an endorsement.

Disclaimers

We work to keep the site accurate and available, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and that the site will be error-free, secure or uninterrupted.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Snow Driven LLC won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or business, arising from your use of the site, even if we were told they were possible. Our total liability for any claim about the site is limited to one hundred US dollars. Some jurisdictions don’t allow some of these limits, so they may not all apply to you. This section is about the site only; liability for project work is set by the signed agreement for that work.

Your responsibility

If you misuse the site or break these terms and that leads to a claim against us by someone else, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of that claim, including reasonable legal fees.

Governing law and venue

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute about the site or these terms will be brought only in the state or federal courts located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and both parties consent to those courts’ jurisdiction.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when they last changed. Changes apply from that date to later use of the site.

General

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Not enforcing a term right away doesn’t waive it. These terms, with our privacy policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about the site.
